recruitment
The Recruitment modules are provided to assist the facility’s Donor Recruitment staff in improving the efficiency of their recruiting efforts. The modules provide the facility with a full complement of recruitment tools necessary to create and manage multiple appointment calendars for multiple donation sources, actively recruit and schedule eligible donors, maintain donor group associations, schedule and monitor the effectiveness of mobile drives, and leverage recruitment metrics to increase the facility’s pool of active donors, thereby increasing the supply of available inventory for the community.
blood collection services
The Blood Collection Services modules are intended to assist Donor Services staff in the registration of eligible donors and the posting of critical donor demographic and eligibility updates. These modules will assist Nursing Services staff in the documentation and review of donor medical history and the posting of phlebotomy results. The Blood Collection Services modules also provide the facility’s staff and management with a full complement of inquiry and reporting functionality, such as the daily reporting of first-time donors, and the reporting of changes to critical donor demographic information.
inventory control
The Inventory Control modules are used by the Inventory Management staff to document the creation of new products from donated or imported products. Inquiry and reporting functions exist, with selections based on unit number, inventory status and/or location, and expiration dates. Each step in the processing of a product is documented by multiple transaction records, ensuring that an authorized user has access to any unit’s current processing status and history and may retrieve that information as quickly as possible in order to maximize product usage and minimize product waste.
donor testing
The Donor Testing modules are used by Laboratory Personnel to post donor testing results and interpretations, evaluate the posted results, process quarantined inventory, and document donor deferrals for laboratory testing. The creation and evaluation of all donor testing records are performed automatically, and are based on management defined profiles to allow complete flexibility in processing while still maintaining process controls demanded for cGMP requirements.
shipping & receiving
The Shipping/Receiving modules are intended to assist the Inventory Distribution staff and Inventory Manager in the handling and distribution of products, including transfusable products, products for further manufacture, and supplies. In an effort to assist in effectively utilizing inventory and reducing waste, these modules allow for the creation of stock orders, distribution of orders, and reports for supervisory review.
reference laboratory
The Reference Laboratory modules are provided to allow a center’s Reference Laboratory technicians quick access to required donor or patient phenotype history and available inventory and to perform an on-line search of recorded history. Functions in this module allow the user to record and maintain antigen and antibody history for donors, patients, and purchased inventory for both red cell antigen groups and HLA antigen groups. In addition, processing and testing requirements for patients may be recorded. Online search functions for each antigen group allow for fast reporting of available inventory, or for emergency recruiting of eligible donors when no active inventory is available for distribution.
transfusion services
The Transfusion Services modules are provided to allow a center’s Transfusion Service technicians to create and maintain patient demographic records as well as orders for transfusable products, including testing and processing requirements. Recorded patient reference testing is available for review and processing upon receipt of a patient order. Orders are processed within the rules established by management.
quality assurance
The Quality Assurance modules are intended to provide QA Departments with the ability to review activity within the system, possible user errors and allow correction. These modules also provide general audit functionality. Quality Assurance is built into each processing group.
management controls
The Management Controls modules encompass the creation and maintenance of user-modifiable table files that empower a facility’s management to dictate much of the BBCS decision algorithms. Few values are hard coded within BBCS, allowing clients of varying size and varying needs to utilize the same application. These functions provide management with the means of defining their facility’s parameters and rules specific to their own environment.
information services
The Information Services modules are designed to enable the System Administrator to perform a wide spectrum of security administration, database management and file maintenance duties in support of the facility’s use of the BBCS Application.
billing
The Billing module is designed to provide Accounts Receivable personnel with a management tool for processing accounts receivables in an online fully automated environment. Each function in the BBCS system that deals with the distribution of products, the donation of specially processed units, or the testing and processing of requested products may create an automatic accounts receivable record during the update process.
