Virginia Blood Services Returns to BBCS’ Blood Establishment Computer Software to Support Quality Management Across all VBS Locations

Auburn, WA – Blood Bank Computer Systems, Inc. (BBCS) announced this week that Virginia Blood Services (VBS) has rekindled its prior relationship with BBCS. VBS will immediately begin implementation of the most current releases of the Blood Bank Control System which will enable the organization to utilize automated selective testing as well as a paperless Electronic Donor Records (SRQ).

The new paperless collection process is expected to enhance the donors’ experience while improving blood safety. Virginia Blood Services processes approximately 130,000 donations across Virginia and North Carolina per year in eight drawing locations. The new system will more efficiently manage the registration and collection process with electronic eligibility questions and automated complex follow-up matrices which will electronically flag a donor immediately during the qualification process.

“We at VBS are excited about our return to BBCS. We believe that BBCS is passionate about our organization and is committed to providing us software solutions that will support our mission today and in the future,” said Robert E. Carden Ph. D., VBS’ President and CEO. “We look forward to a long and mutually beneficial relationship.”

VBS will also be launching BBCS’ new Hospital Web Ordering System which will benefit the more than 20 hospitals currently served by the organization. The Hospital Web Ordering System will enable hospital staff to access a secure website to create new product orders and to view the status of previously entered orders in real time using a fully bi-directional interface. Orders will be automatically integrated into the BBCS BECS system for processing and fulfillment.

“The return of Virginia Blood Services validates our customer service values and our vision for BECS”, said Beth Simon, BBCS’ President and CEO. “VBS is an amazing organization and we are honored that they have chosen us and that they recognize our ability to provide them with quality products and excellent service.”
