BBCS is awarded bid for Phase II of Puget Sound Blood Center Remote Allocation Project

Auburn, WA – Blood Bank Computer Systems (BBCS) and Puget Sound Blood Center (PSBC) signed contracts and kicked off Phase II of PSBC’s Remote Allocation project.

Remote Allocation will change the way blood centers and hospitals get blood products to patients. Readily accessible blood products will prove to be especially useful during critical times of need when a patient may be facing a life threatening situation. Fully automated order processing and an onsite stock of blood components will save time, increase efficiencies, decrease cost and ultimately save lives.
Beth Simon, President & CEO, BBCS said, “BBCS is thrilled to contribute with our long time partners, PSBC, in a project that will revolutionize the ease of access to blood products in hospitals.”

PSBC’s unique ability to provide centralized electronic cross matching for the northwest communities they serve using BBCS software solutions makes this all possible. A hospital staff member or physician will be able to place an order electronically at the hospital while the BBCS Primary Application recognizes the patient, finds their test results and determines whether or not a useful blood product is available at the hospital. This will be accomplished via the interface designed by BBCS utilizing the BBCS Primary Application and the BloodTrack system.

“We are excited to work closely with BBCS on such an integral phase of this project. BBCS is committed to helping us improve the accessibility of blood products in hospitals. We are confident in their ability to meet the detailed requirements for the Remote Allocation project. Our longstanding relationship with BBCS makes it easy to work through all aspects of large projects such as Remote Allocation.” -Dr. James AuBuchon, President & CEO, PSBC
